Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a complete medical system that has been used to diagnose, treat, and prevent illness for more than 2000 years. It is based on Yin and Yang Theory. TCM modalities include Acupuncture, Moxibustion, Cupping, Tui na (Chinese Massage), Herbal Remedies, Eastern Nutrition, Qigong and Tai Chi. TCM is based on the belief that our bodies are an integrated whole, each and every structure is an integral and necessary part of the whole. Our bodies are connected to nature, thus changes in nature are always reflected in our bodies. An example of this is the increase in aches and pains in arthritic people on cold, damp days. A basic concept is that a vital force of life called Qi, circulates through our bodies. Any imbalance to this flow of Qi can cause disease. The disease is most commonly thought to be caused by an imbalance in Yin and Yang. TCM treatments aim to restore the balance of Yin and Yang. Acupuncture is one of the modalities used in TCM to restore balance. It uses tiny needles that are individually packaged, sterilized and disposable. These needles are strategically placed at acupuncture points along the body to balance the flow of Qi in the body. Acupuncture and TCM are used to treat many conditions including but not limited to: back pain, headaches, asthma, chronic fatigue, menstrual pain, carap tunnel, stress, gastrointestinal issues, fibromyalgia, soft tissue injuries, blood circulation issues, rheumatic pain, infertility and many other chronic and acute conditions.
